The Enemy That Lives Inside A Name

Memory Verse:

Proverbs 22:1 (KJV) – “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”

Bible Reading:

Genesis 32:27-28 (KJV)
“And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.”

YOUR NAME HOLDS YOUR DESTINY

Many people do not know that names are more than just identification labels. Names carry destinies. Names are spiritual containers. The name a person bears can influence life, attract battles, and even shape one’s journey. In the Bible, names carried deep prophetic meanings. When God wanted to change a person’s destiny, He often changed their name. Abram became Abraham, Sarai became Sarah, and Jacob became Israel.

Some names are keys that open doors of favour. Some names are padlocks that block destiny helpers. Some names carry ancestral battles. A name given in ignorance can tie someone to generational problems. A name spoken in covenant with dark powers can become an altar fighting a person’s breakthrough.

Jacob’s name meant “supplanter” – a deceiver, a trickster. It was not until he wrestled with God that his name changed. Many individuals today are suffering because of names given to them at birth. A name given in the midst of sorrow can attract sorrow. A name given in covenant with idols can invite battles.

NAMES CAN BE SPIRITUAL CHAINS

In the spiritual realm, names carry authority. A name can be a legal ground for oppression. Some families give names that dedicate their children to spirits unknowingly. The Bible says in Hosea 4:6 (KJV), “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Many destinies are imprisoned because of names. Some names were given by angry parents, bitter relatives, or people who had evil intentions.

A woman once came for deliverance. Her life was filled with disappointments. Every time she got close to a breakthrough, something would snatch it away. After deep prayers, it was revealed that her name meant “sorrow.” She had carried sorrow from childhood without knowing. When she changed her name, the battles stopped.

What does a name mean? Who gave it? Were sacrifices made when that name was given? If a name is carrying an evil load, that burden must be broken!

HOW TO BREAK FREE FROM A NAME BATTLE

If a name is linked to battles, there are spiritual steps that should be taken:
1. Renounce and Reject It in Prayer: Declare that one is no longer under any evil covenant attached to the name.
2. Seek Deliverance: Some names are tied to family altars. Breaking free may require deep deliverance prayers.
3. Ask God for a New Name: Just as God changed Jacob’s name, He can give a new name that aligns with destiny.
4. Use the Blood of Jesus: Call upon the blood of Jesus to wipe away every evil handwriting attached to the name.
5. Speak Life Over Oneself: If legal name change is not possible, begin to speak God’s promises daily. Declare that no individual is bound by any negative meaning attached to a name.

TAKE ACTION NOW!

Your name is your spiritual identity. If there is anything in your name that does not align with God’s plan, it must be rejected. Begin to pray:

– Every ancestral power attached to my name, break by fire!
– Every negative prophecy attached to my name, be reversed by the blood of Jesus!
– O God, if my name is limiting me, give me a new name that will favour my destiny!
– I renounce every evil dedication made over my name in Jesus’ name!

Do not allow the enemy to manipulate your destiny through your name. Be vigilant. Pray without ceasing. And may the Lord give you a name that will open doors of glory and favour in Jesus’ name! Amen.
