Memory Verse:
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) – “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
Bible Reading:
James 3:5-6 (KJV)
“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”
A Silent Battle You Must Win
Battles are not fought with swords or guns, but they determine the destiny of men. It is the battle of the tongue! The devil understands the power of words, and that is why he influences people to misuse their tongues. A powerless tongue is not just a silent tongue; it is a tongue that lacks spiritual authority. A believer with a powerless tongue is like a soldier without a weapon. Such a person may pray, but their prayers lack fire. They may speak, but their words carry no weight in the spirit realm. Many destinies have been caged because of careless words or silence when they should have spoken with power. What has a believer been saying about their life? What declarations have been made over individual destinies?
Unveiling the Truth About the Tongue
The Bible is clear: the tongue can bring life or death (Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)). This means that every word a person speaks is either a seed of life or a seed of destruction. The story of Jacob and Esau is a strong example. When Isaac blessed Jacob instead of Esau, the pronouncement could not be reversed (Genesis 27:33 (KJV)). This shows that words, once spoken with power, have lasting effects. The words spoken over oneself, children, and future shape reality. It has often been observed how those who constantly complain or speak negatively over themselves frequently experience those negative outcomes. The enemy seeks to manipulate people into using their tongues against themselves. Phrases like “I am tired of life,” “Nothing is working for me,” or “I will never succeed” create spiritual doorways for affliction. On the other hand, declarations like “I am the head and not the tail,” “I shall not die but live,” and “My future is glorious,” align destinies with God’s divine purpose. What has been spoken in recent times?
Living in the Reality of a Fire-Filled Tongue
The reason many Christians do not see results in their lives is that their tongues are not yet trained to be fire-filled. A powerless tongue is a dangerous liability. It is like a lamp without oil, a gun without bullets. To possess a fire-filled tongue, there must be discipline in speech, with constant feeding on the Word of God, ensuring every word spoken aligns with God’s truth. Years ago, a woman who experienced repeated miscarriages was advised to change her confessions. Instead of saying, “I always lose my babies,” she began to declare, “My womb is fruitful, I shall carry my children to full term.” That year, she conceived and gave birth to a healthy child! Another man struggling in business changed his language from “I am failing” to “I am a kingdom financier, my hands shall prosper.” Within a year, his financial situation turned around. The power of words is undeniable!
How to Activate the Power of Your Tongue
1. Speak God’s Word Daily: Let scriptures be confessed over every area of life and situation. Let the words of God fill every heart and mouth. Say, “I am more than a conqueror,” “I shall lend to nations and not borrow.”
2. Cancel Negative Words: Every idle or negative word spoken must be nullified. Declare, “Every wrong word I have spoken over my life, I cancel it by the blood of Jesus!”
3. Pray in the Spirit: Speaking in tongues strengthens the spirit and aligns one’s words with divine purpose.
4. Bless Yourself and Others: Instead of curses, declare blessings. Speak blessings over children, homes, businesses, and the future.
5. Refuse to Speak in Fear: The enemy manipulates people into confessing fear. Even when things look bad, say, “God is working everything for my good.”
Your Words Shape Your Tomorrow
If there must be a change in life, then the words must change first. One should not wait until things appear perfect before speaking rightly. Begin today! Declare life over health, finances, marriage, and ministry. Never let the devil silence a believer. Do not allow circumstances to dictate confession. Speak boldly, speak life, and witness the power of God move on behalf of those who believe.
